Embodied Carbon Intensity Diagrams

Below are embodied carbon intensity diagrams for some typical framing schemes for various building use types. Each diagram includes the design strength and serviceability criteria as well as items that impact embodied carbon including structural material type and surface preparation and fireproofing. Use these diagrams as a guide to establishing the embodied carbon impacts of your early conceptual designs or as a way to check final designs. Please note that these are approximate and do not include materials required for typical beam connections or concrete reinforcement laps, etc and should not be considered as a source of final embodied carbon values for individual projects.
